Moses, originating from Shermah, which is situated at the southern region of Sinai where Jethro likely resided, ascends the main route through the mountainous terrain of Sinai. He passes the holy site at Horeb, where Aaron meets him, likely at the very location of the vision of the burning bush, and here he conveys to Aaron the command from God. Clearly, Aaron was instructed to come to this specific location where the brothers reunited. The act of sending Zipporah and their circumcised son back to his father-in-law occurred prior to their meeting at Horeb with Aaron, indicating it was not far from Shermah. Furthermore, it is possible that this entire event, despite the shortcomings of the covenant, was a part of God's sovereign plan, ensuring that the family would not hinder Moses from dedicating himself entirely to his divinely ordained mission.
