The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

Therefore, O Prophet, you are to announce once more to the land of Israel and cry out to the mountains, hills, fields, and wilderness, saying: Thus says the Lord to Adonai: Look, I have declared this in My fervor and in My wrath because of the shame you have endured from the words spoken against you. Consequently, the Lord declares to Adonai the Lord: Behold, I will lift My hand against those who speak ill of you, and they will bear their disgrace. The disgrace inflicted upon you has led to a verdict issued against those who have mocked you, and they will face the consequences of their evil deeds in My sight, along with their malice and arrogance directed toward you.
