The elder approached them and implored that they refrain from tarnishing the generous feast with a disgraceful act, urging them to uphold the principle that even the most uncivilized nations honor: to bring such dishonor upon a fellow tribesman, an Israelite man committed to the sanctity of marriage, would invoke the anger of the Divine Judge.
