Individuals acquire the ability to perceive spirits through a subtle transformation of their senses, one that remains unnoticed and inexplicable to the human mind. They may only recognize within themselves a sudden awareness of things previously unseen and unheard, which others cannot perceive. For those who have undergone such a transformation, it feels entirely natural and straightforward, despite being beyond their own understanding and that of others; conversely, for those who have not had this experience, it appears odd and unfathomable. It is widely acknowledged that people can fall into slumber, yet the nature of sleep and the subtle transition from alertness to a state of rest and oblivion remain enigmatic to us. The alteration of the senses, when an individual engages in tangible communion with the entities of the unseen realm, is referred to in Scripture as the opening of the senses.
