Boaz fathered Obed through Ruth (Matthew 1:5). Though Ruth was a stranger in her land, she became the wife of Boaz. Similarly, the Church made up of Gentiles, having been an outsider to the covenants, turned away from her people, abandoned idolatry, and renounced her earthly father, the devil, to become united with the Son of God.

Let Tamar rejoice that the Lord came and revealed her legacy to the son born from her transgression. Indeed, the name she bestowed upon him (See Gen. 38:29) cried out to You to come to her. For, in Your honor, virtuous women have faced shame; You who grant purity to all creation! She has discreetly taken what belongs to her, the one who prepares the way for the kingdom! Though life was taken from her, the sword could not bring her demise. Ruth lay beside the man on the threshing floor for Your sake; her love gave her the courage, O You who instill bravery in all those who seek repentance. Her ears were closed to the call of others, intent only on hearing Your voice.
