God addressed Jerusalem once more, instructing the prophet to admonish it for its unrighteous deeds, much like a judge would. He refers to Jerusalem as a “vale of blood” due to the numerous acts of injustice and murder. Again, He uses such descriptions, lamenting over the city that pours out blood within its walls, where time has come for reckoning, and where idols are fashioned, leading to its defilement. This means that you have brought these calamities upon yourself, O city, by entertaining wicked thoughts and manifesting them, thus polluting yourself and being saturated with the blood of the innocent. The prophet proclaimed this as a time of watchfulness.
